Introduction Dizziness (feeling dizzy)

Dizziness is one of the most common symptoms that will ask to see a doctor. The term dizziness (or spinning) can be difficult to determine because it could mean something different to different people. Is feeling dizzy lead kesakit lightheadedness, feeling weak and almost fainting, or does not refer to vertigo (where rooms or people seem to like spinning)?

Dizziness (mild) usually caused by a decrease in blood supply to the brain, whereas vertigo caused by disturbances in the ear and balance lbagian center of the brain.



It is important for patients and health practitioners to work together to understand the specific symptoms that patients experience can make the correct diagnosis and treatment.


What are some common causes of dizziness?


While classifying physiologic dizziness into categories to help understand how the body works, sometimes it is useful to examine the common reasons why people may complain of dizziness.





Low blood pressure


Dizziness, lightheadedness, and feeling like going to faint is a common complaint in patients who have low blood pressure. When blood pressure is too low, not enough oxygen in the blood that is sent to the brain, and its function can be affected.



In addition to dizziness, associated symptoms include:

* Sweating,
* Nausea and vomiting,
* Shortness of breath, and
* Chest pain.



Low blood pressure can be generated from a fundamental problem. Some reasons for low blood pressure include:



* Anemia (decreased red blood cell count)



* Bleeding



* Dehydration (loss of fluid in the body) the frequent occurrence of the infection that causes vomiting and diarrhea. Fever can also cause a large amount of fluid loss due to increase in value of metabolism and body sweats excessively to try to cool it down.



* The heat-related illness associated with dehydration, such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion or heat stroke (emergency room).



* Side effects from certain drugs used to control blood pressure and heart rate. Examples include:



o beta blockers [propranolol (Inderal, Inderal LA), atenolol (Tenormin), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL)], which block adrenalin receptors in the heart and can limit the increase in heart rate in response to changes in position.



o Nitroglycerin and isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur Ismo, Monoket), length of action of nitroglycerin medications that are not only dilate blood vessels in the heart, but can also cause other blood vessels in the body to raise and can not respond to the needs of the body.



o Diuretics can cause dehydration



o ACE inhibitors, which slow the heart rate, and



o drug for erectile dysfunction that can dilate blood vessels.



* Use of alcohol



* Pregnancy
